Acadiana Fish Hatchery
Louisiana's #1 Source for
Private Lake and Pond Stocking
Our Recommendations for Lake and Pond Stocking
The following stocking rates are commonly recommended by Acadiana Fish Hatchery for new lakes and ponds. They are based on 35 years of experience and a review of existing stocking recommendations by other authoritative sources. We not only have hatchery experience, but have managed a successful private lease fishing club on premises for the past 35 years. Our private lakes are stocked according to the following chart below. Successful fishing is our intended goal for our clients. The average wait time for all orders is two weeks or less.
We are an exclusive Louisiana Fish Hatchery with over 75 lakes and ponds on premises. Our fish are cultured right here in Louisiana on our 110 acre fish farm, near Lafayette, LA. Unlike our competitors we do not have to haul your fish over hundreds of miles from out of state. This means you will get healthy, vibrant fingerlings that have never been iced down for transport due to the fact the fish are cultured locally. Out of state vendors will often ice down your fish for transport, our fish are always freshly harvested and never iced down. In fact, Louisiana is the only state we sell fish in because we believe in providing the highest quality product; and we know the health of the fingerlings depend on quickly transferring the fish from our ponds to yours.

Regular Stocking
We highly recommend waiting to stock the Largemouth Bass after Bluegill and Fatheads are established. Bass and bream ponds are the easiest to manage. Ponds north of Alexandria, LA should stock at lower end of the recommendations.
Enhanced Action Stocking
Our private fishing club members love these ponds the best. The catch is much better than the Regular Stocking presentation. Large Hybrid Bream bite better than large Pure Bream during the hot summer months. Kids will not be bored with this stocking presentation. Wait to stock Largemouth Bass after Bream and Minnows are established.
